This man was from Burke County and in the NC Militia during 1780-1781.

The second Capt. Robert Smith was from Mecklenburg County, and he was in the Minutemen and in the NC Continental Line. He moved to Lincoln County and became a Lt. Colonel and Colonel of NC Militia.

The third Capt. Robert Smith was in the NC Continental Line during 1781. His home county is currently not known.

The fourth Capt. Robert Smith was from Mecklenburg County, and he was a Captain of NC Militia in 1781.
