The 1945 AAF Airfield Directory described Hawthorne as a 531 acre rectangular property within which was a sod all-way field, measuring 5,230' northeast/southwest.

Airports Found - Virtually Nothing Known Except What's Below

Here are two farm strips only a ½ mile apart, just west of Vance, SC in Orangeburg County. The northern one is off Avinger Lane and is owned by Ira D. Avinger, Jr. and the southern one is off Gallery Lane, and owned by J. Randall Brown. Both are a couple of miles west of Vance, SC. Info provided in January 2019 by CBB.

This is a no name landing strip on the topo map at the left. It is a few hundred yards east of Ware Road about 3 miles southwest of Norway, SC in Orangeburg County.
