Location Met: Charles Town
|On June 18, 1775, Lord
William Campbell arrived in Charles Town and took the oaths
of office and allegiance as the last Royal Governor of South
Carolina. He had been commissioned in 1774.
|In September of 1775, Governor Lord William Campbell
was forced to flee for his life and he took refuge aboard the
HMS Temar after the American Revolution started in earnest
in South Carolina.
