An Act to Appropriate the Fund Received from the United States Government for Rent of and Damage to the South Carolina Military Academy to Certain Uses.

Whereas, the Governor of the State has received the sum of seventy-seven thousand two hundred and fifty dollars, from the United States Government, same being in settlement of rent found to be due to the State by the United States Government for the use and occupation of the property of the State, known as the South Carolina Military Academy, and also for damage to the said property by fire during such occupation:

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority bf the same, That the Comptroller General be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to draw his warrant on the State Treasurer in favor of the Chairman of the Board of Visitors of the South Carolina Military Academy, for the sum of fifty-seven thousand two hundred and fifty dollars, in such amounts as may be demanded by the said Chairman in accordance with the provisions of this Act, the same to be applied under the direction of the said Board in rebuilding the west wing of the said South Carolina Military Academy, for necessary repairs to the main building, and for the equipment of the said Academy in accordance with tne directions of the said Board of Visitors: Provided, That the said Board of Visitors shall first, from said sum, provide for the rebuilding and completing the west wing of the said South Carolina Military Academy, and the other necessary repairs to the main building thereof, before any of said sum shall be employed in any other manner. And the State Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to pay the same on presentation.

Sec. 2. That of the remaining twenty thousand dollars of the said fund, the sum of fifteen thousand be covered into the State Treasury to be applied to the general purposes of the State government, and the balance be held to meet any claims which may be approved for the expenses of the collection of the same.
