An Act to Incorporate the Board of Directors of the Theological Seminary of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Acts and Joint Resolutions of the General Assembly of South Carolina 1883, Page 428.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That J. P. Kennedy, J. N. Young, W. L. Pressly, H. T. Sloan, J. L. Miller, Wm. Hood, E. E. Boyce, J. C. Chalmers, R. F. Bradley, D. F. Haddon, Wm. M. Grier, E. P. McClintock and J. Boyce, members of the Board of Directors of the Theological Seminary of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, and their successors in office, be, and they are hereby, declared to be a body politic and corporate, under the name and style of " The Board of Directors of the Theological Seminary of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church," and by their corporate name may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, in any Court of this State; may have, use and keep a common seal, and the same at will may alter; may contract and be contracted with; may buy, acquire by gift or otherwise, receive, hold and enjoy real or personal property, or both, not exceeding in value two hundred thousand dollars at any one time, and may sell and convey the same: Provided, The amount received from such sale be reinvested for the benefit of said corporation; may elect such officers and may also adopt such by-laws and regulations, not repugnant to the law of the land, as may be deemed proper.

Sec. 2. This Act shall go into effect immediately upon its approval.
