An Act to Amend the Charter of Adger College.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That an Act entitled "An Act to incorporate Adger College," approved December 20th, 1881, be amended by striking out Section 6 thereof and inserting as such Section the following: "Section 6. Any vacancy in the Board of Trustees may be filled by the majority of the members present at any legal meeting of the Board electing a person to fill such vacancy that may exist at the time of such meeting; and the person so elected shall serve during the unexpired term of the person whose place he is elected to fill, and until his own successor shall have been elected: Provided, That the Trustees shall first be elected from stockholders of said corporation holding certificates of stock to the amount of five hundred dollars until a majority of said Board shall be composed of such stockholders, after which they may be elected from the stockholders at large."

Sec. 2. That said Act be further amended by adding to the end of Section 7 the following words, to wit: "At any other meeting of said Board a majority of the persons then members shall constitute a quorum." So that the said Section shall read as follows, to wit: "Section 7. That at any annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of said College, or adjournment thereof, nine members of said Board shall constitute a quorum. At any other meeting of said Board a majority of the persons then members shall constitute a quorum."
