An Act to Recharter the Palmetto Society in Columbia for the Dissemination of Learning.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That the Palmetto Society in Columbia for the Dissemination of Learning be, and the same is, rechartered for the term of twenty-one years, with the same powers and privileges that were granted said society in their charter granted on the twenty-eighth [sic - nineteenth] day of December, eighteen hundred and forty-eight.

Sec. 2. That all acts of the said society, not contrary to the law of the land, performed since the expiration of their charter are ratified and confirmed and made of full force and effect.

In the Senate House, the nineteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.
