An Act in Relation to the Trustees of the South Carolina College.

December 20, 1853

The Statutes at Large of South Carolina, Volume XII, Page 267.

I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That in addition to the Trustees now provided by law, the Chairman of the Committee on the College, Education and Religion, of the Senate, and the Chairman of the Committee on Education, of the House of Representatives, shall be, ex officio, members of the Board of Trustees of the South Carolina College.

II. The Trustees of the said college are hereby authorized to receive, in behalf or the State, and to invest to the best advantage, in their discretion, all moneys, funds and securities, which may from time to time be offered, for the foundation of scholarships in said college.

In the Senate House, the twentieth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three, and in the seventy-eighth year of the sovereignty and independence of the United States of America.
