An Act to Incorporate Certain Societies and Companies, and to Renew and Amden Certain Charters Heretofore Granted.

December 20, 1842

The Statutes at Large of South Carolina, Volume XI, Pages 250-252.

I & II - Religious Societies incorporated:

- The Pendleton Baptist Church;
- The Baptist Church at West Union in Pickens District;
- The Friendship Baptist Church of Anderson District;
- Trinity Church in Abbeville;
- Duncan's Creek Church of Laurens District

III & IV - Societies and Associations incoporated:

- The South Carolina Friendly Society of Charleston,
- Marion Lodge, No. 2, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
- Howard Lodge, No. 3, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
- Jefferson Lodge, No. 4, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows,
- Palmetto Lodge, No. 5, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of the State of South Carolina,
- The Yorkville Fire Engine Company, and
- The Greenville Fire Engine Company

V - Wee Nee Dragoons and Beaufort District Troop of Cavalry incorporated.

VI - Yorkville Fire Engine Company and Greenville Fire Engine Company exempted normal militia duty.

VII - Societies re-incorporated:

- Roman Catholic Church of Columbia,
- Trustees of the Pendleton Female Academy,
- Cedar Shoal Baptist Church in Spartanburg District
- Protestant Episcopal Church of Saint Paul in Radcliffeborough

VIII & IX - Charter of the Village of Chester amended.

X. That this Act shall be a Public Act, and shall continue in force for fourteen years.

In the Senate House, the twentieth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-two, and in the sixty-seventh year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America.
