Lexington County ceded land for the creation of Aiken County in 1871; for the creation of Calhoun County in 1908; and it ceded a small portion of its northern lands to Newberry County and Richland County circa 1910. Its population increased from 6,641 in 1810 to 262,391 in 2010.
