There currently exists a wonderful website that provides very detailed history of each state and U.S. highway for the states of Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina, plus Washington, DC. Let's all hope it never goes away because this Author does not wish to recreate their incredible and hard work. Kudos to Mapmikey and Adam Prince.
