* 1894 - Re-organized as the Wilmington, Newbern & Norfolk Railroad, which was quickly renamed to the Wilmington & Newbern Railroad.
+ 1891 - acquired the assets of the East Carolina Land & Railway Company.
Owned by the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad.

From the 1st Annual Report of the North Carolina Railroad Commission, dated December 31, 1891:

Chartered March, 1885; amended February, 1887, March, 1887. No limitation as to duration of charter.

This company was chartered for the purpose of constructing a railroad from the city of Wilmington to Jacksonville, in the county of Onslow, or to such other places in said county as the company might determine, with the right to continue the road through any of the counties in the State of North Carolina lying east of the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad, and to connect with any railroad now chartered or which may be chartered hereafter, with a capital stock of $1,000,000, and a right to increase the same to $3,000,000. It is expected that this road will be extended to New Bern.
