NC/SC Line
* 1914 - Acquired by the Carolina, Atlantic & Western Railway
+ 1911 - NC company and SC company with same name authorized to merge and operate as one company by NC State Legislature on February 3, 1911.

Construction began immediately with track completed twenty-nine (29) miles to Dillon, SC in 1909, seventeen (17) miles further to Mullins, SC in 1910, and in 1911 reaching the Pee Dee River - a total of sixty-eight (68) miles. A jointly-owned bridge was constructed in 1911 to join the North & South Carolina Railway with the Georgetown & Western Railroad, and the line was officially opened for the entire route.

The North & South Carolina Railway took over operations of the Seaboard Air Line Railway trackage between Hamlet, NC and Gibson, NC. The entire line was folded into the Carolina, Atlantic & Western Railroad in 1914, as shown above.

The Georgetown & Western Railroad was folded into the Carolina, Atlantic & Western Railroad in 1915.

There was an earlier line named the North & South Carolina Railroad that was completed from Virgilina, VA to Mines in NC, in 1900. It was merged into Southern Railway in 1900. Many folks get these two lines mixed up.
