This incarnation of the Blue Ridge & Atlantic Railroad was chartered by the NC State Legislature on February 9, 1901. Another Legislative Act authorized Macon County to subscribe to stock in said railroad. On March 1, 1905, the NC Legislature gave more time to Macon County to issue bonds to help fund said railroad.
