- Aberdeen & Asheboro Railroad - Merged into Raleigh, Charlotte & Southern Railroad in 1911, then into Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1914.
- Alma Railroad - Re-organized as the Maxton, Alma & Southbound Railroad in 1911.
- Bee Tree Railroad - Acquired by Swannanoa Railroad, which was abandoned in 1916.
- Caldwell & Northern Railroad - Merged into Carolina & Northwestern Railroad in 1910.
- Durham & Charlotte Railroad - Merged into Raleigh, Charlotte & Southern Railroad in 1911, then into Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1914.
- Kinston & Snow Hill Railroad - Re-organized as the Carolina Railroad in 1913.
- Lynchburg & Durham Railroad - Merged into Norfolk & Western Railroad in 1911.
- Mt. Airy & Eastern Railroad - Sold in 1920, no longer operational.
- North & South Carolina Railway - Re-organized as the Carolina, Atlantic & Western Railway, then merged into Seaboard Air Lines in 1915.
- Northampton & Hertford Railroad - Acquired by Carolina & Northeastern Railroad in 1917.
- Piedmont Railway - Merged into the Carolina & Yadkin River Railway in 1912.
- Raleigh & Southport Railway - Merged into the Raleigh, Charlotte & Southern Railroad in 1911, then into Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1914.
- Red Springs & Bowmore Railroad - Abandoned in 1918.
- Roanoke & Southern Railway - Merged into Norfolk & Western Railroad in 1911
- Roanoke River Railway - Acquired by Townsville Railroad in 1919.
- Sanford & Troy Railroad - Merged into Raleigh, Charlotte & Southern Railroad in 1911, then into Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1914.
- Snowbird Valley Railway - Sold for scrap in 1916, allegedly for WW-I effort.
