North Carolina Railroads - 1890 - Atlantic Coast Line System

Railroads already operational prior to 1881:

+ Albemarle & Raleigh Railroad. Operational in 1873. Was the Seaboard & Raleigh Rail Road.
+ Cheraw & Salisbury Railroad. Operational in 1868.
+ Petersburg Railroad. Operational in 1833.
+ Wilmington, Columbia & Augusta Railroad. Operational in 1854 as the Wilmington & Manchester Railroad, then in 1870 as the Wilmington & Carolina Railroad.
+ Wilmington & Weldon Railroad (main line). Operational in 1840.
+ W&W Tarboro Branch. Operational in 1849.

Railroads completed between 1881 and 1890:

+ W&W Scotland Neck Branch. Operational in 1882.
+ W&W Midland Branch. Operational in 1883.
+ W&W Wilson & Fayetteville Branch. Operational in 1886.
+ W&W Clinton Branch. Operational in 1887.
+ W&W Nashville Branch. Operational in 1887.

The following railroads were chartered between 1881 and 1890, but were not operational as yet (1890):

+ 1885 - Wilmington, Onslow & East Carolina Railroad. (Became the Wilmington, Newbern & Norfolk Railroad)
