The Crown took over North Carolina in 1729, but they did not appoint their first Royal Governor until 1731. Very little changed with respect to the General Assembly. The "Upper House" still included the Governor and his Executive Council, and the "Lower House" was still called the House of Burgesses and included representatives elected by the Freeholders in each Precinct (renamed to County on March 8, 1738/9). | |||
