On December 24, 1820, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to establish Spring Hill Academy in Gates County. Four (4) trustees were named in the Act.
On January 9, 1833, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate the Sunsbury Academy in the village of Sunsbury in Gates County. Fifteen (15) trustees were named in the Act.
Also on January 9, 1833, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate the Gatesville Academy in the town of Gatesville in Gates County. Five (5) trustees were named in the Act.
On February 16, 1859, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to incorporate the Reynoldson Male Institute in the village of Reynoldson in Gates County. Four (4) trustees were named in the Act.
On February 22, 1861, the North Carolina General Assembly passed an Act to prohibit the sale of spirituous liquors within two (2) miles of Reynoldson Institute in Gates County.
