The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1. That the office of county superintendent of public instruction for Rockingham County is hereby abolished.

Sec. 2. That the county board of education shall have the authority and are hereby directed to elect a county examiner in the place of said superintendent of public instruction, who shall perform the duties and receive the compensation as provided for in the laws of one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one.

Sec. 3. All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. That this Act shall be in force from and after its ratification.

In the general assembly read three times, and ratified this the 2d day of March, A.D. 1887.
