An Act to Incorporate the Newbern Educational Association.

Private Laws of the State of North Carolina Passed in 1871-72 - Pages 90-91.

Section 1. The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact, That Thomas C. Battle, John R. Good, E. A. Richardson, Virgil A. Crawford, Moses T. Bryan, Geo. T. Fisher, Alex. Bass, W. W. Lawrence, Miles Shepard, John Dixon, Geo. Physic, J. B. Abbott, E. E. Tucker, John Randolph, Jr., E. R. Dudley, John M. Banton, Richard Tucker, Geo. W. Stanly, Geo. B. Willis and others are hereby created a body politic and corporate by the name and style of "The Newbern Educational Association," and by that name may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, may purchase, acquire, hold and transfer real and personal estate.

Sec. 2. May use and enforce their constitution and by-laws, may alter or amend the same as they may deem necessary and proper from time to time for governing the affairs of the corporation, and may have and use a common seal, and may do all other acts and things which in law a body corporate may of right do, not inconsistent with the constitution and laws of the United States or of this state.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in force from and after its ratification.
