Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the
authority of the same, That Churchill Perkins, Henry J. Toole,
William Grimes, Godfrey Langley, Benjamin Daniel, Valentine S.
Jordon and David Langley, be, and they are hereby constituted
a body politic, by the name and style of the "Trustees of
Midway Male and Female Academy;" and by that name, may sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded; shall have succession and
a common seal; may acquire by purchase, gift or otherwise, to
them and to their successors, estate real and personal, for the
use of the said academy; and establish such laws and regulations,
for the government of said Institution as maybe necessary for
the preservation of order and good morals, not inconsistent with
the constitution and laws of this State or of the United States;
and enjoy all other privileges and immunities incident to bodies
corporate of like nature.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the said trustees and
their successors, or a majority of them, shall have power to
supply all vacancies which may occur in their body from death,
resignation, removal out of the County or otherwise, and transact
any other business relating to said Institution.
