An Act to Incorporate Williams Academy, in the County of Martin.

Acts Passed by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina 1830-1831 - Page 87.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Joseph J. Williams, Samuel Williams, Lewis A. Williams, William W. Williams and David Williams, be, and they are hereby declared a body politic and corporate, to be known and distinguished by the name of "Williams' Academy," (on the land of Joseph J. Williams,) in the county of Martin, and by that name shall have perpetual succession and a common seal, and shall be vested with all the powers and authorities which are usually given to the trustees of other academies established by the laws ot this State.

II. Be it further enacted, That the said trustees, or a majority ot them, shall have power to supply all vacancies that may occur in their body from death, resignation, removal or otherwise.

Read three times and ratified in General Assembly,
this 4th day of January, 1831.
