An Act to Incorporate the Carraway Library Society in the County of Randolph.

The Laws of the State of North Carolina 1820 - Page 65.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the members ot a society lately established in the county of Randolph, for the purpose of promoting and aiding the progress of learning and science, be, and they are hereby incorporated into a body politic and corporate, by the name and style of the Carraway Library Society; and by that name shall have succession, be capable in law and equity to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, and have a common seal. They shall have full power to hold all such books and apparatus and other property for the use of said society as they may acquire either by purchase, donation or devise, and to transfer the same at pleasure, and to do and perform all such other matters and things as other bodies corporate and politic of the like nature are usually authorized to do, not inconsistent with the constitution and laws of this state, or of the United States.

2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall be and remain in force until the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty, and no longer.
