An Act to Establish an Academy in the County of Guilford.

1816 - Chapter CXXV

The Laws of the State of North Carolina Enacted in the Year 1816 - Page 52

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That John Landrath, Robert Woodburn, William Doak, the Reverend John Coe, the Reverend James Hanner and John Woodburn, be and they are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate by the name of "The Trustees of Union Academy" in the county of Guilford, and the said trustees are hereby vested with all such powers and authorities as are usual for trustees thus incorporated, to use and exercise. And by the name aforesaid, shall have perpetual succession, may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded in any court in this state, and shall have power and authority to receive and apply to the use of said Academy any donation either from the public or individuals.

Read three times and ratified in General Assembly,
this 28th Day of December, A.D., 1816
