An Act to Authorize the Trustees of Germanton Academy, in Stokes County, to Raise by Way of Lottery or Lotteries, a Sum not Exceeding Five Hundred Pounds for the Purpose of Purchasing a Lot or Piece of Land and Books for the Use of Said School.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it it hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the trustees of the Germanton Academy, in Stokes County, or a majority of them, be, and they are hereby vested with full power and authority to raise by way of lottery or lotteries, a sum not exceeding five hundred pounds, for the purpose of purchasing a lot or piece of land, and books for the use of said Academy.

II. And be it further enacted, That the trustees of the said Academy shall appoint three men of skill and probity, not belonging to their body, for the purpose of conducting such lottery or lotteries, agreeable to such scheme or schemes as the said trustees, or a majority of them, may think proper to devise, who shall have full power and authority to adopt such rules and regulations as may appear to them necessary for conducting the same.
