From the time of John Cabot's discovery of Carolana in 1497 to the end of the Lords Proprietors' rule in 1729, Europe was constantly in a state of war. These wars did contribute to the decisions that led to the formation of Carolina, first in 1629 by the English King Charles I. And, many of these wars caused the other "colonial players" in North America to remain out of Carolina.
