Captain Henry Taverner

Captain Henry Taverner made numerous voyages between England and the Colonies. He made early explorations of the Carolina and Florida coasts as early as 1632 in the George on behalf of Sir Robert Heath, the owner of the first Carolana grant from King Charles I in 1629.

In April 1635, English records mention him as being from All Hollows Barking, England, 32 years old and married. Captain Henry Taverner patented land in Virginia in 1632-34.
