Carolina Under the Lords Proprietors' Rule

3rd Commons House of Assembly - 1696 to 1697

The Third Commons House of Assembly convened for at least five (5) known sessions. The first session met from January 30th to February 7th in 1696. The second session met from February 18th to March 17th in 1696. The third session met from November 24th to December 5th in 1696. The fourth session met from February 23rd to March 10th in 1697. The fifth session met from November 10th to November 12th in 1697.

The fifth session adjourned on November 12th "until December 20th" but no records of any proceedings for that possible sixth session have been located.

As briefly mentioned in the previous Assembly, for some reason the election districts were now designated as Berkeley County and Craven County - combined - plus Colleton County. Berkeley and Craven were allowed twenty (20) delegates in total, while Colleton was authorized ten (10) delegates.
